Mum for Mum has been supporting the transition to parenthood since 2008. Mum for Mum is a non-denominational community outreach initiative founded and supported by NCJW NSW. It now has over 180 volunteers and has supported over 1200 mothers since their inception. They operate in the Eastern Suburbs, North Shore and Northern Beaches.
Mum for Mum is a confidential, non-denominational home-visiting program where trained volunteers who are mothers themselves visit a mum in the last trimester of pregnancy and for the first year of their baby’s life in order to provide emotional support.
With so many new mothers today – especially single mums – not living in close proximity to their families or the supports with which they grew up, Mum For Mum aims to relieve isolation and reduce anxiety and depression, by creating a safe and caring space for mums to delight in their babies and develop secure attachment. It’s mums supporting families in need.
