Ruth Shteinman became involved with NCJW NSW in 2017, initially organising Days for Girls, multi-generation events for making reusable sanitary care for females in impoverished communities. With the success of this initiative she was invited to join the Board.

When COVID isolation presented a serious obstacle, Ruth rapidly reconfigured the operational structure of Days for Girls so that volunteers could work from home. The new Make-at-Home Project output only grew. The important work now continues in both modes: communal events and home production. Ruth has also organised popular author presentations for NCJW NSW’s Library Committee and many successful sewing workshop days bringing young and old together.

Ruth is a ceramicist and weaver specializing in natural fibre wall hangings, sculptural ceramics and wool weaving. She designs a collection of handmade Judaica under the label RS Collection.
